The SEI offers a number of resources for students and the wider Scottish Episcopal Church.
Publications
The Scottish Episcopal Institute Journal provides not only the opportunity engage with the thinking of others, but also the opportunity to contribute articles and book reviews. The Journal began publication five years ago — with twenty issues now available online — and has received over 10,000 pageviews.
Events
The SEI offers an annual lecture at one of the ancient Scottish universities. Last year’s Lecture was given by the Professor Grant Macaskill. This year’s will be given by Reverend Professor Annalu Waller. It will be held by livestream on Thursday 24 October 2024 at 5pm.
Ember card
Ember Days are a time in which we are asked to pray for those about to be ordained or licensed to authorised ministry in the Scottish Episcopal Church. The Ember Card 2024 lists SEI students who have completed their initial ministerial formation (IME1) and will be deaconed or licensed in September.
Prayer Diary
The SEI Prayer Diary provides the Church with a way of praying daily for all involved in the SEI Community. The Prayer Diary 2024/25 can be downloaded here.
The Alastair Haggart Bursary Fund
The Bursary is awarded annually in memory of Bishop Haggart, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church (1977-85). It aims to help finance sabbaticals or other similar leave of absence on the part of full-time ministers at a stage in the person’s life when such an experience will significantly enhance his or her development. The outcomes of the project should also be of benefit to the wider Church. To apply to the fund, please access the form here when applications for the 2025 award are notified.
