Seven curates and two vocational deacons, all in SEI’s IME2 cohort, gathered at St Columba’s by-the-Castle, Edinburgh, on Wednesday 22 November 2023 for a Conference on ‘Healthy Ministry’ organised by SEI’s IME2 Officer, the Rev Liz Crumlish, who is also Priest-in-Charge of St Oswald’s Church (Maybole), a regular blogger and keen reflective practitioner.
The day’s presentation was offered by the Rev Dr Harriet Harris MBE. Harriet is Head of Chaplaincy Services at the University of Edinburgh, an Episcopal priest and Convener of the Doctrine Committee of the SEC’s Faith & Order Board.
Harriet focussed on archetypes, for example, ‘lover’ and ‘care-giver’, to help participants understand themselves and how they may be healthy in ministerial practice by thoughtful reflection and self-awareness. She utilised some material from The Abundant Academy to facilitate ministerial and personal thriving and vitality. By all accounts, it was a thoughtful and fruitful Conference!
