Mr Daniel Farrell
Student Representative
Daniel is currently an ordinand in the Scottish Episcopal Institute from the Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane. He will serve as Senior Student and student representative on the Institute Council during 2026–27 and is a member of St Margaret’s, Leven. Alongside his formation, Daniel is Director of Student Operations at University College London. He has spent nearly 40 years working in Higher Education to improve the student experience at departmental, Faculty and institutional levels and has taught in Oxford, St Andrews, London and Greece. His professional and teaching experience has fostered an interest in leadership, institutional life and the creation of communities in which people can flourish. Over the past two years, his formation has included chaplaincy and pastoral ministry across university, workplace, public and parish settings. Daniel’s ministry interests include silence, prayer and how monastic spirituality and the religious life can speak beyond the cloister; the leadership of retreat and education centres as places of formation and renewal; ecumenical dialogue, especially with the Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches; care for creation; and poetry in faith and spiritual life. He is drawn to the spaces between institutions, traditions and communities as places of encounter with God. Daniel divides his time between Fife and London.
