Donors in September

Over the past month the ‘SEITraining Fund’ has benefitted from receiving deputising fees which would otherwise have been paid to three members of the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, the Revd Sally Gorton, Lay Reader Ray Gascoigne and the Revd Canon Robin Paisley. They kindly requested that their fees be donated to the Fund, and Treasurers in the host congregations accordingly made the necessary arrangements.

We thus thank the following charges: All Saints Bearsden, St Oswald’s Kings Park, St Michael and All Angels Helensburgh (Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway). We also thank the congregation of St John the Evangelist Inverness (Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness) for its kind donation.

Such money goes directly to supporting students training full-time, that is via New College or the Mixed Mode pathway. Currently there are three candidates in these pathways, two being Mixed Mode students and the third studying at New College.

The Fund is also augmented from time to time by money collected at ordinations and services of licensing and institution. In this regard we thank the congregation of St Mary’s Cathedral, Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, for the most generous donation received following the Ordination to the Priesthood of the Revd Dr Lisa Curtice on Saturday 27 August. Lisa will continue to serve as Regional Curate for the Renfrewshire Region.

We also thanks the congregations of St Mary’s Inverurie, St Anne’s Kemnay, St Mary’s Auchindoir and All Saints Whiterashes, Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney, for the splendid donation received following the installation of the Revd Suzanne Brumwell to the Donside Group.

The students themselves raised the magnificent sum of £130 for the Brazil Fund at the first residential weekend through offerings made at the Eucharist and the sale of theological books kindly donated by the Revd David Wostenholm (Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway) and the family of the late Revd Hilary Naish (Diocese of Edinburgh). Thanks to Jackie Fenton, Ross Stirling-Young and Godwin Chimara for their help with the book sale. The money will be sent to our sister Theological Education Institute in Porto Alegre, Brazil, to support the mission work undertaken by the students there.

Finally on financial matters, from Monday of next week application forms for the 2023 Alastair Haggart Bursary Award will be available. Check out this web site if you are interested in applying.
