IME1 October Residential Weekend

Four students and two SEI staff members stand together after Sunday Eucharist in Conforti Chapel.

Initial Ministerial Education Phase 1 (IME1) students gathered, with staff and tutors at the Conforti Centre from 23-25 October 2026 for the first Residential Weekend of the Academic Year. Friendships, forged during Orientation Week, were re-kindled and strengthened as students discussed and studied diverse subjects such as Franciscan Spirituality, Ministry with Children and Young People, Liturgy, and Reflective Practice.

Saturday’s midday worship included reflecting on the United Nations ‘Prove it Matters’ campaign that focuses on the impact of war on children.

The image centres a table with a white table cloth lain over its entirety, and then a green cloth lain vertically down the middle. On the green section of the cloth is one candle in the middle, with ten origami white paper birds making a ring around the candle.

Our weekend culminated in the celebration of the Eucharist together before making our way home through Storm Boelo.

The Scottish Episcopal Institute currently trains people for authorised ministries in the Scottish Episcopal Church and in the United Reformed Church. Alongside online courses, the SEI IME1 community meets together for training and formation for one orientation week and then five weekends throughout the year.
