SEI at Mustard Seed

Prof Michael Hull, SEI’s Principal, visited Mustard Seed on the First Sunday of Advent (3 December) 2023. Mustard Seed is located on Easter Road in Edinburgh. Mustard Seed began in St Margaret’s Church as a plant from St Paul’s & St George’s (P’s & G’s) also in Edinburgh in 2017 with a stress on Soul Food to exemplify Christian hospitality and kindness. Mustard Seed emphasises the ‘Good News’ — that God loves us all!

Mr Andrew Struzenberg, a lay minister and trustee of Mustard Seed, who will begin training as an ordinand with the Scottish Episcopal Institute in 2024, facilitated a conversation between himself and Mike. The conversation gave Mike the opportunity to give an overview of the SEI’s work, to introduce the liturgical season of Advent and to highlight some aspects of Mike’s Advent series, The Coming of the Christ.

In addition to Soul Food, lots a great things are happening at Mustard Seed, for example, a CAP debt centre, a fast-growing children’s ministry, a luscious garden behind the church building, efforts to support New Scots with welcome hampers and more.
