Dr David Lewis has been appointed Tutor in Theology and Study Skills at the Scottish Episcopal Institute.
David earned his doctorate in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh where his research examined the work of contemporary theologians Wangari Maathai, Tore Johnsen and John Chryssavgis, considering the relationship between Christian theology, cosmology and ecology, focusing on the theme of a sacramental worldview within their work.
David completed his MA & MTh at Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, his hometown, prior to moving to Edinburgh in 2021. He previously lived and worked in Cape Town, South Africa, where his interest in both African theology and world Christianity first emerged. David’s research interests include World Christianity, African theology, cosmology, ecotheology and sacramental theology.
Rev Dr Anna-Claar Thomasson-Rosingh, Acting Principal and Director of Contextual Formation says, “We are delighted to welcome David to the academic team, so that SEI is able to offer better academic student support at this time of transition.”
As Tutor in Theology and Study Skills, David will be teaching Introduction to Christian Doctrine this semester as well as supporting students practically in their studies at SEI. As a lifelong Anglican, David looks forward to teaching and working alongside students at SEI to support them in their life and ministry here in Scotland.
