SEI’s third residential weekend of the formational year (Friday 12 January to Sunday 14 January 2024) saw a number of special guests and an exciting presentation.

The SEI community welcomed the Rev Rosie Addis for the residential weekend. Rosie is Rector of St Columba’s Church, Bathgate, and St Peter’s Church, Linlithgow, and Eilidh Proudfoot’s (a third-year ordinand) Diocesan Adviser. Rosie presided at the Eucharist on Sunday and Eilidh preached.

The Community also welcomed the Rev Dr Lisa Curtice, Director of The Craighhead Institute for Life and Faith, and Regional Curate for Renfrewshire. Lisa is Tosh Lynch’s (a first-year ordinand) Diocesan Adviser.

On Saturday, the Rev Canon Dr Nicholas Taylor, Rector of St Aidan’s Church, Clarkston, and Convener of the SEC’s Liturgy Committee, presented an introduction to the SEC’s new Pastoral Offices for Priests, Deacons and Lay Readers. Rosie, a Member of the Liturgy Committee, participated in the presentation. The perspectives offered by Nicholas and Rosie proffered great insight into the Church’s theology and practice of pastoral care.

As always, St Mary’s Monastery, Kinnoull, was a magnificent venue to gather mid-way in the academic year and to begin a new calendar year of formation for ministry.
